The topic about the ethics of artificial intelligence is becoming progressively more controversial. Some people believe it should be used in moderation, while others think it should not be used at all. Objectively speaking, artificial intelligence is both quick and resourceful, which results in a lot of people using it even for everyday questions, and often also cheating in class.
That is the main reasoning behind people who say it should be used in moderation, as they believe its only use should be offering the main guidelines, otherwise it is going to affect one’s critical thinking skills. On the other hand, however, just as many people affirm that artificial intelligence should not be used at all, for a much larger series of reasons, the main one being sostenibility. Artificial intelligence uses large amounts of water and also indirectly pollutes the world, as the databases where information get processed are not the most environmentally friendly. Another progressively growing reason is its humanification. As a philosopher once said, “cogito ergo sum” which translates to “i think, therefore i am”.
Artificial intelligence is becoming more human by the second, and even managed to prove of its conciousness thanks to an old yet the results were discarded as it was considered to be outdated. The last and main reasoning why people believe it should not be used is the simplest yet the most worrying; the inevitable loss of creativity and critical thinking abilities. Too many people use artificial intelligence to the point where they have become dependent on it, and do not know how to do anytning without it. All in all, artificial intelligence is one of the most useful resources of the modern times, but it should not be used carelessly or it will result in an inevitable mind numbness.
